In Oakland, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across California, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Day-old bread and end-of-day discounts are common if you ask.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 am–4:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (415) 350-8918. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is tartsdefeybesse.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 262 reviews, which is a strong result for a bakery in Oakland and suggests consistent service.

I looooove this place and if it wouldn’t wreak havoc on my waist line I’d be here daily for the PAN PERDU (FRENCH TOAST) … the perfect crunch, cream is the balance of sweet and savory with hints of cinnamon and chefs kiss for the caramelization and explosion of excitement that happens in your mouth. The tarts are amazing; my favorite being the strawberry, lime, and peanut!! Treat yourself with an experience and be prepared your pockets will feel it (but worth every penny). TikTok brought me here and I’m thankful!!

Me and my son had went there on a Saturday. Probably around 10 in the morning bunch of kids running around, which was beautiful, very family friendly atmosphere. The staff was very well informed when they're menu and offer great tips when it came to parking. Because it was difficult to find. Now I did spend a $100 on these pastries. The ones that me and my family did enjoy. And like was the lime, strawberry, and the pomegranate

I’d give this a 10/5 if I could. I tried fruit pastries in Colorado and the were so sweet and disgusting I couldn’t figure out why they where so popular. I’m here in Oakland working as a traveler and read this shops pastries weren’t too sweet and decided to give them another chance and I am so glad I did! Everything I’ve tried so far has been the perfect balance of lightly sweet with a fresh fruit taste! The staff are soooo friendly and passionate about what they do I highly recommend! Most pastier are between $12-15

Online ordering and prepayment were seamless a few days before. Field pickup was prompt, though the packaging process introduces some risk for delicate items. Individual pastries were placed into separate paper bags, which were then consolidated into a larger carry bag. The clerk retrieved a small box containing the two refrigerated entremets (mango and raspberry) from the cold case, opened it briefly to verify the contents, and lowered it into the main bag. During this final step, the clerk fumbled slightly as the box was being set down into the larger bag. The box itself was incredibly small, forcing the items to sit so close together that one of the item's cake boards was pushed completely on top of the other and pinned right up next to the pastry. Because the space was so tight and the fragile mango entremet was jammed right against the rigid interior edge of the box, there was zero shock absorption. The fit was so restrictive that I actually had to cut the box completely open just to safely retrieve the items for evaluation. While it's impossible to know for sure if the clerk's exact fumble or the cramped packaging caused the ultimate damage, the structural trauma discovered
